SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, December 28, 2022, deputies from the Victorville Station were dispatched to the area of Seventh Street and Green Tree Boulevard for a report of a stolen white, 2019, Toyota Camry. During an area check, deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield and accelerated at a high rate of speed. Deputies, along with the California Highway Patrol’s Aviation Unit, pursued the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Joshua Villareal, drove on the wrong side of the road, ran red lights, and drove at speeds of up to 120 MPH.
The pursuit continued throughout the city and ended when Villareal drove north on Mesa View Drive and ran out of road. Villareal attempted to drive through a dirt field and the vehicle became inoperable.
Villareal and another occupant of the vehicle, identified as Lindzey DeLeon, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot. DeLeon was located hiding inside a tent in the dirt field and Villareal was found nearby, hiding under debris in a backyard.
Both suspects were arrested without further incident and booked in at the High Desert Detention Center. While Villareal remains in custody on $100,000 bail, DeLeon was cited and later released.
