Heavy Rains have resulted in flooded streets and other issues.
We have all been hoping for rain and now it is here. However, the result is flooded roads, creeks running full and a blown electrical transformer that caused a power outage around the Rheem Center (PG&E is on the scene). The Town has brought in additional Public Works staff, who are monitoring streets and clearing drain blockages, where possible. However, we are dealing with a large amount of water from the continuing rains.
Here are some things that we can all do to reduce the impact of the rain and stay safe:
- Bags and sand are available at Rancho Laguna Park if you need sandbags to prevent minor flooding. You have to fill and transport the bags yourself.
- As noted, there is standing water on many of our streets. Please stay home and stay off of the roads. If you have to go out, please drive slowly and safely. Remember, your car potentially loses traction when driving through standing water. Use caution and drive defensively!!!
- Many of our new drivers (teens) haven't experienced these conditions before. It is a good time to discuss safe driving with them.
- Stay out of creeks and streams. They are full and water is running very fast. Some are flooding. These are extremely hazardous!
- If you need help, call 9-1-1. Conditions can change very rapidly, so if you think there is an emergency situation, do not delay.
