INCIDENT: Subjects Arrested for being in Possession of Firearms and Controlled Substances
LOCATION: S State Hwy 38 / S Hatchery Dr, Big Bear City
SUSPECT(S): Shawn McDonald, 44-year-old resident of Moreno Valley
Alexander Shaughnessy, 41-year-old resident of Moreno Valley
VICTIM(S): People of the State of California
SUMMARY: On January 2, 2023, at about 4:00 a.m., Deputy Baca conducted a traffic stop near S State Hwy 38 / S Hatchery Dr, in Big Bear City, for a California Vehicle Code violation. Baca identified the driver as Shawn McDonald and passenger as Alexander Shaughnessy.
Shaughnessy, a convicted felon, was found to have an active warrant for his arrest and to be in possession of a firearm and live ammunition. McDonald was found to be in possession of a firearm and controlled substances.
The vehicle was towed and McDonald and Shaughnessy were arrested and booked into the Big Bear Jail on felony weapon charges. McDonald is currently being held on $40,000 bail and Shaughnessy is currently being held on $30,000 bail. McDonald and Shaughnessy have an arraignment hearing set for January 4, 2023, in the San Bernardino County Superior Court.
