Winter Storm Continues, Prepare Now

We’ll be catching a break from the rain today but it’ll continue tomorrow in full force lasting through next week. Be sure to prepare now for storm related hazards.

Layer your clothing so you’re warm to avoid hypothermia.

Slow down on the roads and drive safer, watch for pedestrians and cyclists. Give yourself extra time to get to your destination.

Pick up sand bags if you need them. Pickup location: 221 Commercial Street, self service.

Never drive through flooded roads. You can’t tell how deep the water is just by looking at it. 1 ft of water could push a small car and float many vehicles and 2 ft of rushing water can carry away most vehicles.

This weather may cause power outages throughout the Bay Area. Please remember that when a traffic signal light is not working proceed cautiously as if the intersection is controlled by “STOP” signs in all directions. Do not call 911 to check the status of your power outage, reach out to PG&E.

If you, or someone you know, need warm shelter call the County of Santa Clara’s Shelter Hotline: 408-385-2400.

If you have pets, be sure they have warm shelter too.
