Weather Advisory: Prepare Now for Upcoming Storm
Another strong storm system and atmospheric river is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall and strong winds to the Bay Area. The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch and High Wind Warning, from Wednesday 1/4 – Thursday 1/5. This will increase the threat for widespread flooding and wind damage across the Bay Area. Be prepared for possible power outages and roadway impacts.
Please review the latest NWS forecast for the most up to the date information and take a look at the attached graphics with information on how to prepare ahead of time.
WHEN DRIVING:
- Use extra caution.
- Slow down.
- Don't follow too close.
- Don't try to flooded roadways or standing water.
POWER LINES: Do not attempt to move downed power lines. Leave the area immediately and call 9-1-1. Then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.
DOWNED TREES: To report flooding or downed trees in Novato, please contact the City of Novato Public Works Department at 415-899-8280. After hours, or if a downed tree is blocking the street, call the Novato Police Department non-emergency line at 415-897-4361. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.
SAND BAGS: If your area is prone to flooding, pick up sand bags at the City of Novato Corporation Yard (550 Davidson St.). Residents should bring their own shovels and gloves. The limit is 10 sandbags per household, first come first serve.
