Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.

On December 29 at approximately 10:06 p.m., police were in the 1600 block of Jessup Street when they observed 29-year-old Rashad Walker acting in a suspicious manner.  When police attempted to make contact with Walker, he fled on foot.  Officers observed Walker discard a firearm into the Brandywine River.  Walker was quickly taken into custody without incident.  With the assistance of the Delaware State Police Dive Team, a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.

Walker was charged with the following offenses:

• Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
• Hindering Prosecution
• Resisting Arrest
