The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
December 27th
Robbery - El Cerrito Plaza.
At 1045 hours, a BMA, 30-40 years of age, 6’3” 300lbs, wearing a dark camo green/black hoodie and dark sweat pants, entered the business and selected $40.00 worth of deli meat. As the suspect exited the business he pushed one of the employees and caused him to lose his balance. Lucky provided a picture of the suspect who was later identified
Residential Burglary – 5700 Block of Alta Punta Ave.
An unknown suspect broke a downstairs window to gain access to the rear door. The suspect conducted a light ransack of the residence and stole three miscellaneous items (stroller/jacket/gaming microphone) totaling $180.00. Burglary occurred between 12/23/22 at 1800 hours – 12/26/22 at 1930 hours. During the investigation, evidence was located at the scene from another burglary in the 5700 block of Fern St. A possible suspect was identified and linked to the burglaries.
Vehicle Theft – S. 56th St / Potrero Ave:
A 1994 Nissan Quest was stolen from the street sometime between 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
December 28th
Burglary – 800 Block of Craft Ave.
At 0845 hours, the owner saw two female suspects walk down their long driveway and enter a detached storage shed and close the door behind them. The owner’s confronted the suspects who stated they were there for a rental listing.
(S1) – BFA, 20-30 years of age, black hair, 6’0” lean build wearing a cross necklace.
(S2) – BFA, 20-30 years of age, black hair, 5’5” with a stalky build
Attempted Commercial Burglary – 300 Block of Carmel Ave.
At 1423 hours, the caretaker of the property was upstairs when he heard the sound of glass breaking. Upon walking downstairs, he observed a subjects arm reaching through the broken glass window next to the front door in an attempt to unlock it. The caretaker yelled at the subject who fled the scene in an unknown direction. Only description provided was a subject with a black jacket.
