TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY
TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY:
The predicted storm system hitting the area today is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain. Residents are encouraged to avoid any unnecessary travel this afternoon and evening. The wind and rain could make for dangerous driving conditions, including flooding, downed tree limbs and power lines. For those who will be on the roads we recommend:
* Give yourself extra time to reach your destination
* Maintain a wide interval between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you
* If windshield wipers are on, headlights must be on
* Should you begin to hydroplane in standing water, take your foot off the accelerator immediately and slow until you regain control
* If traffic control signals are not working due to power outage, treat intersections as a four-way-stop.
* Do NOT drive into a flooded area. If flood signs are posted, turn around and seek another route to your destination
Should you see any areas of standing water/flooding/hazards, they can be reported to the City by calling the Pleasant Hill Police Department’s non-emergency number at (925) 288-4600. Calls during normal business hours can also be placed to the City’s Public Works Department at (925) 671-4646. In case of an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
