The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning and flood watch through Thursday 10 AM, with more wet weather expected into the weekend and next week. Heavy rainfall may overwhelm waterways and roadway drainage systems, leading to flooding. High winds from 20-30 mph are also expected, with gusts up to 50 mph, which may lead to downed trees and power lines. 

To keep you, your family, and your home safe during the storm view the storm preparedness tips below:

• Turn Around, Don't Drown® - If you need to drive, be extra cautious and slow down. Avoid walking or driving through flood waters; just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
• Sandbags are available at the City's self-serve station located in the parking lot of McKenzie Park at 707 Fremont Avenue. Bags, sand, and shovels are available at the station 24 hours a day.
• Never touch or attempt to move downed wires/lines; assume the lines are energized and extremely dangerous. Report downed power lines immediately by calling 911 and then PG&E at (800) 743-5002.
• All storm related hazards—street flooding, fallen trees/limbs, plugged storm drains, traffic signal outages, and fallen street signs—should be reported to the Maintenance Services Division at (650) 947-2785. After-hours calls should be directed to the Police Department’s 24/7 non-emergency line at (650) 947-2770.
• Call 911 if you are injured, in danger, or for any other emergencies.
