Green Bay Police Track Decrease in Shots Fired Cases; Crediting Crime Control, Special Enforcement & Technology
The Green Bay Police Department reports that there were fewer shots fired cases in the City of Green Bay for 2022, while comparing it to 2021, in a year-end review.
Our crime analysts tracked a 25.6% decrease in these cases. In 2022, there were 61 recorded cases verses 82 cases for 2021, when officers responded to a high volume of calls in the fourth quarter.
“We understand that gun violence has been a big concern for our community. The reductions that we are now seeing in some of the key indicators of gun violence are encouraging. They are a direct result of a lot of hard work by our police professionals and our community partners in this effort. We still have work to do, but our efforts so far are paying dividends and we are headed in the right direction,” said Chief Chris Davis, Green Bay Police Department.
The Green Bay Police Department also took additional action last year that included:
- Utilizing National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN)
- Imaging that Allows for the Potential to Match Shell Casings to Guns Nationwide
- Implementing Flock Safety Cameras
- Tested & Leased License Plate Readers
