Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured female suspect in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., Police responded to Halsey Street and Market Street on a call of an aggravated assault. The suspect stole an item from a male victim, a vendor. The victim chased the suspect, who sprayed him with pepper spray before fleeing on foot, heading northbound on Halsey Street. 

The suspect is described as wearing a brown jacket, red hat, and having red hair. 

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
