Witherspoon Street Phase 1 Construction Update for January 9th -January 13th, 2023 (Princeton Engineering Dept.)

Week of January 9, - January 13, 2023*

Motorists should proceed with caution, follow the 20 MPH speed limit, and adhere to the STOP sign at Spring Street intersection as well as the midblock crosswalk near Tulane Yard.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • Earle Asphalt Co. will be returning on Monday, January 9th to continue with concrete sidewalk removal and paver installation In Stage 1 and 2.
  • Roman E&G will be on site Thursday, January 12th for utility work for future light poleS.
  • A 4-5 foot wide walking path outside of the snow fence nearest to the frontage of the businesses will remain in place for pedestrian traffic.

Traffic and Parking
  • Please be advised that Witherspoon Street is a one-way street northbound. Witherspoon Street is open to traffic traveling northbound. The left side of the white paver line is a 10-foot designated service lane. The right side of the white paver line lane is the 10-foot travel lane. Stopping, Standing or Loading is not permitted in the active travel lane.
  • A temporary loading zone was installed on Witherspoon Street between Hulfish Street and Paul Robeson Place/ Wiggins Street, along the curb at Hinds Plaza and the public library. Business delivery trucks may continue to utilize designated loading zones and crosswalks. Stopping in the travel lane or blocking intersections to load or unload is prohibited. Other available loading zones are on Nassau Street, Spring Street, and Hulfish Street.
Waste Collection
  • Trash and Recycling collection for businesses on both the west and east side will take place in the designated area on Witherspoon just past the Spring Street Crosswalk. DO NOT BLOCK TRAFFIC SIGNS WITH THE BINS. 
  • Trash and Recycling collection for businesses near Nassau Street have made arrangements for collection on Nassau Street. Businesses whose collection is in Tulane Yard should be collected as normal.
