Police Seek the Public’s Help in Identifying Shooting Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred on Friday, January 6, 2023.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., Police responded to Spring Street near Clay Street on a call of shots fired. Responding officers located a male who had been shot. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment. He is reportedly in stable condition.
Detectives investigating this incident observed surveillance footage of the suspect brandishing a firearm, discharging the weapon, and shooting the victim. The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black North Face coat, dark colored pants, and black and white Nike sneakers.
