Storm Update 1/9/23 11:30 AM: Please Avoid Flooded Areas & Current Closures

The National Weather Service has indicated that the heaviest part of the storm is over. Mild to moderate Rain will continue through the afternoon.

Please avoid Silva’s Crossing and the Christmas Hill Park area due to high flood waters and dangerous conditions.

The following roads are closed or experiencing flooding:

  • Westbound 152 Hecker Pass
  • Castro Valley Road
  • Mesa Road
  • Bolsa Road
  • Wren Avenue
  • Mantelli Road
  • Burchell Road
  • Miller Avenue at Silva’s Crossing
  • 101, just south of Monterey Road
Don’t underestimate the force and power of water. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters. Please avoid flooded areas and find alternate routes.

If rains continue, there is potential for flooding at the mobile home park located at the south end of Monterey Road, behind Guzman’s Tire Center. For a list of areas under current evacuation warnings visit the County website at https://emergencymanagement.sccgov.org/residents/flood-safety.

An emergency shelter is now open in San Martin to assist those who have been displaced. The shelter is located at the San Martin Lions Club, 12415 Murphy Avenue, San Martin.

City staff and emergency personnel are continuing to monitor the situation and are working in coordination with Santa Clara County and Santa Clara Valley Water District as the storm progresses.
