INCIDENT: Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition
LOCATION: 7000 block of Maude Adams Ave., Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT(S): John Anthony Moore, 31-year-old resident of Twentynine Palms
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Sunday, January 8, 2023, at approximately 4:37 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person stowing a shotgun in a vehicle.
Deputies attempted to contact the subject, later identified as John Moore. However, Moore fled on foot from deputies and hid in the area. With assistance from the Sheriff's Aviation Division, deputies located Moore hiding on the roof of a vacant residence in the area and detained him. Deputies recovered a loaded 12 gauge shotgun.
Moore is a convicted felon, currently on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS), and had an active no bail felony warrant for a parole violation. Moore was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with additional charges of felon in possession of a firearm and felon in possession of ammunition. Bail was set at $30,000.
