Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Armed Carjacking Suspects
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspects, who carjacked two victims at gunpoint on January 8, 2023.
Police responded to a call about the carjacking, which occurred at approximately 9:08 p.m. in the 80 block of Green Street. The victims were sitting in a 2008 Nissan Altima when two males, armed with handguns, approached the vehicle. One of the males opened the driver’s door and demanded that she get out of the vehicle and give up her belongings. The driver and a passenger complied as the suspects entered the vehicle and drove away eastbound on Green Street. An hour later, detectives investigating the incident recovered the vehicle at 21st Street and Madison Avenue in Irvington.
Suspect #1, a Black male with a slim build, was wearing a black hoodie, light-colored jeans, and a black ski mask. Suspect #2, also a Black male with a slim build, was wearing a white and black varsity jacket with a white line across the front of the jacket.
