Advisory
On 01-09-2023 at 6:30 PM officers were called to 225 N. Main Street, Volunteer Park, for a man down. Two people in the area found a man sleeping on a wall in the park. When they checked on the man he was unresponsive. Paramedics responded and attempted life-saving measures, he was transported to Mercy where he was pronounced dead. The deceased is a male, white 40-50 years of age.
The Medical Examiner, Janesville Police Department Detectives, and Evidence Technicians were called as standard procedure. The investigation is ongoing but there were no signs of trauma to the body. The cause of death is unknown but foul play is not suspected at this time.
More information will be released as it becomes available. The identity of the deceased is not being released until the next of kin can be identified and informed.
