Folsom Police Department Provides Final Year of STAKE Grant Update

Folsom Police Department has completed the first two quarters of the final fiscal year of this grant.
 
STAKE is the Stop Tobacco Access to Kids Enforcement Grant program which funds personnel time for sworn officers and administrative staff to perform tobacco education and enforcement activities.
 
It is illegal for a retailer in the United States to sell any tobacco product, including cigarettes, cigars, and e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.
 
Accomplishments for the first two quarters:
 
  • Minor decoy operations conducted at four Folsom tobacco retailers. No cashiers sold to the decoy.
  • Shoulder tap operation conducted outside of one Folsom tobacco retailer. One citizen agreed to purchase tobacco for the minor decoy and was issued a citation.
  • Nine (K-12) public school tobacco & vaping cessation presentations to both students and parents.
  • Attended a Sac County Public Health Conversations on Tobacco & Oral Health Training Class
 
 
The grant programs will run until July 1, 2023.

 
Funding for this program is from the California Department of Public Health through the Food and Drug Branch Tobacco Enforcement Section. For more information see the California Healthcare, Research, and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act of 2016, Proposition 56.
