SUMMARY:
On Monday, January 9, 2023, at about 9:00 pm, deputies from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of a shooting at the 7/11 gas station located in the 12700 block of Main Street. While enroute to the shooting call, Sheriff’s Dispatch received an additional call from a female at the Pilot Truck Stop in the 8700 block of U.S. 395 Highway, who reported her boyfriend had been shot at a nearby gas station.
Upon arrival at the Pilot Truck Stop, deputies found the victim suffering from two gunshot wounds. Upon further investigation, deputies determined these two incidents were related.
The victim was transported to an area hospital by the Fire Department and subsequently airlifted to a trauma center, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
During the preliminary investigation, deputies learned the victim and two unknown Hispanic male suspects engaged in a verbal argument inside the gas station. The victim and the two suspects exited the store and both parties walked to their respective vehicles located at the gas pumps. The victim and his girlfriend were traveling in a blue Honda CRV, and the suspects were traveling in a white Kia Stinger with no plates.
For reasons unknown, while at the gas pumps, the victim approached the two suspects with a stun-baton device in his hand, at which time one of the suspects produced and discharged a handgun striking the victim. The Kia Stinger fled the incident location westbound on Main Street.
