Narrative: | |||||
On January 6, 2023, West County Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) detectives were conducting directed enforcement on known subjects who are on probation with probation search terms. During this operation, SEU detectives contacted Nicholas Coronado and Veronica Robles in the 1900 block of Rose Ave, in Oxnard. Detectives learned Coronado is on active probation with firearms, ammunition and narcotics related search terms. Detectives conducted a probation search of Coronado and located a loaded 9mm handgun, an ounce of fentanyl, several concealed knives, and a small amount of methamphetamine on his person. Coronado has a criminal history which prohibits him for owning and or possessing any firearms, ammunition, or narcotics. Detectives arrested Coronado for possession of a loaded firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, possession of a firearm containing obliterated identification markings, possession for sales of a controlled substance, unlawful transfer of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Veronica Robles was contacted with Coronado and found to be in possession of a small amount of fentanyl. Detectives cited and released Robles for possession of a controlled substance. SEU detectives transported and booked Coronado into custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Coronado remains in custody on $70,000 bail. Coronado’s next scheduled court date is January 10, 2023. The West County Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of eight detectives, who focus on protecting West County communities by actively investigating illegal firearm activities.
