Police Seek Help Identifying Armed Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Thursday, December 1, 2022.
 
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Police responded to a residential building in the area of Broad Street near Emmet Street on a call of a robbery. A male victim was followed into the building by the suspect, who repeatedly struck the victim with a handgun before going through his pockets. The suspect then removed the victim’s fanny pack and fled the building, heading north on Broad Street.
 
Detectives obtained camera footage of the incident and describe the suspect as wearing a black wave cap, a black varsity jacket with white stripes around the waist and wrists, a black hooded sweatshirt with a white design on the hood, blue jeans with ripped designs in the front and back, and white sneakers. The suspect is known to frequent the area of Astor Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
 
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
