Clayton County Schools Will Close Early Today Due To Potential Inclement Weather. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN
Greetings,
Clayton County Public Schools’ (CCPS) leadership has announced that all schools will dismiss early due to the potential impact of weather conditions that have been forecasted for this area. Students will be dismissed in the following manner: high schools at 1:00 p.m., elementary schools at 2:00 p.m., and middle schools at 3:30 p.m. This action also includes the cancellation of all athletic, extra curricular and after school activities to include the district’s remediation program. CampusKids will provide service until 4:00 p.m.
This decision, in keeping with the district’s commitment to student and staff safety, is being prompted by National Weather Service reports indicating that conditions associated with a severe line of storms that are expected to affect our area this afternoon, this evening and tomorrow morning, Friday, January 13. The system is expected to produce gusting winds, frequent lightning, rain, and possible tornadoes. The higher than normal winds could cause tree damage with a potential loss of electrical power and could have an impact on school buses as they travel on county roads.
Due to this afternoon's inclement weather and the closure of schools, the District 1 meeting featuring Ms. Jasmine Bowles, Clayton County Board of Education representative for District 1, has been rescheduled as a virtual session. The Advisory Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. and the Community Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Please use this zoom link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7047081328 (https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7047081328)
