UPDATE: Green Bay Police Contact Owner of Dog Involved in Reported Bite Incident on Velp Avenue

Update:

The Green Bay Police Department has been able to speak with the owner of a yellow Labrador Retriever that was reportedly involved in the bite incident of a woman, which resulted in minor injuries, on Velp Avenue, around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The dog’s owner has been cooperative, and we have been able to verify that the dog involved is current on a rabies vaccine and City license.

A quarantine order was issued on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in compliance with Wisconsin State Statute 95.21.

The Green Bay Police Department is seeking to speak with the owner of a yellow Labrador Retriever type dog that was reportedly involved in the bite incident of a woman, who was running on Velp Avenue, during the early morning hours of Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The victim who sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital, told police that she was bitten by one of two dogs being walked around 5:30 a.m. on Velp Avenue between Ethel Avenue and Gray Street. The person walking the dogs has been described as a White male believed to be in his 30’s or 40’s, wearing a red-orange colored winter coat, winter hat with a headlamp, and possibly glasses.

It is important that we locate the dog’s owner within 72-hours to verify current rabies vaccinations.
