Witherspoon Street Phase 1 Construction Update for the Week of January 16th-20th (Princeton Engineering Dept.)
Week of January 16, - January 20, 2023*
Motorists should proceed with caution, follow the 20 MPH speed limit, and adhere to the STOP sign at Spring Street intersection as well as the midblock crosswalk near Tulane Yard.
- Earle Asphalt Co. has returned to site and will continue with concrete sidewalk removal and paver installation on the eastern side of Witherspoon Street.
- A 4-to-5 foot wide walking path outside of the snow fence nearest the frontage of the businesses will remain in place for pedestrian traffic. Pedestrians will be rerouted to the nearest crosswalk or the opposite side while areas are blocked off during sidewalk construction. Wooden planks will be available near business entrances to provide access for employees, patrons and deliveries.
Traffic and Parking
- Please be advised that Witherspoon Street is a one-way street northbound. Witherspoon Street is open to traffic traveling northbound. The left side of the white paver line is a 10-foot designated service lane. The right side of the white paver line lane is the 10-foot travel lane. Stopping, Standing or Loading is not permitted in the active travel lane.
- At times, Witherspoon Street between Nassau Street and Spring Street, may experience a lane shift or temporary road closure to deliver material and equipment to the work area. Detour signage will be in place during those occurrences.
- Trash and Recycling collection for businesses on both the west and east side will take place in the designated area on Witherspoon just past the Spring Street Crosswalk. DO NOT BLOCK TRAFFIC SIGNS WITH THE BINS.
- Trash and Recycling collection for businesses near Nassau Street have made arrangements for collection on Nassau Street. Businesses whose collection is in Tulane Yard should be collected as normal.
