UPDATE: Homicide Detectives Arrest Suspect in the Murder of a 26-year-old Victorville Man

LOCATION: Near the 32400 Block of Jiggs Road, Barstow
SUSPECT(S): John Gallaher, 35-years-old, Resident of Barstow
VICTIM(S): Victim 1) Ivan Garcia Olivera, 26-years-old, Resident of Victorville (Deceased)
Victim 2) 32-year-old male resident of Phelan
Victim 3) 35-year-old male resident of Phelan

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail continued their investigation in the murder of 26-year-old Ivan Garcia. Detectives developed leads and learned the suspect, identified as John Gallaher, was at a residence in the 30500 block of Sutter Road, in Lucerne Valley.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, deputies from the Specialized Enforcement Division located Gallaher at the residence on Sutter Road and took him into custody without incident.
Gallaher was arrested for murder and booked in at the Central Detention Center where he remains in custody.

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, May 3, 2022, deputies from the Barstow Sheriff’s Station responded to the 32400 block of Jiggs Road in Barstow. The caller reported an assault occurred as he and two other subjects were riding quads in the desert.
Deputies arrived and located the reporting party, and another victim with injuries sustained in the assault. A third victim, identified as Ivan Garcia Olivera, was located close by with an apparent gunshot wound. Medical personnel also responded and pronounced Olivera deceased.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigation Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. No other information is currently being released.
