San Leandro Police Investigate and Solve Homicide on Same Day:

On Sunday, January 15th, at about 9:30 am, San Leandro Police responded to an apartment on the 2700 block of Marina Boulevard.  While headed to the call, officers learned a woman had been assaulted, and she was unresponsive.  Despite life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased.  The victim, a 24-year-old woman, was found to be lying in bed with significant trauma to her head and upper torso.

San Leandro Police Homicide Detectives were summoned to the crime location and assisted the Patrol Division with this investigation.

After the issuance of a search warrant, detectives began to examine the scene and surveillance video and interview witnesses.  Detectives learned the victim's boyfriend was responsible for the homicide.

Later that evening, detectives discovered the suspect was associated with a City of San Francisco residence.  Both police agencies worked closely with one another, which resulted in the suspect's detention and subsequent arrest.

As of this writing, the suspect, Chataron Rose, is in custody and will be arraigned.  Rose is a 23-year-old San Leandro resident who lived at the apartment with the victim.

"We are grateful to have dedicated and passionate detectives with strong investigative prowess.  Hopefully, the quick closure of this case can bring some solace to the victim's family," said Lieutenant Matthew Barajas
