McDowell County’s first County Commissioners Meeting of the year was held at 5pm on January 9^th, 2023 in the Commissioners Board Room at the McDowell County Administrative Offices. Brenda Vaughn, a retired Captain from The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, was one of the many distinguished guests in attendance and was recognized for her services to the Board.

The County’s strong relationships with other Local, State and Federal partners were apparent Monday evening with resounding support from County Commissioners.

“We are blessed in McDowell County to have world class leadership and help in these departments and I just want to say thank you”, County Commissioner Patrick Ellis stated during the meeting.
 
“We appreciate the partnerships that McDowell County has between the different agencies,” Commissioner Lynn Greene added. “It’s not a matter of whose turf it is. It’s just ‘we’re going to get the job done’… and that’s what sets you apart from everybody across this country”
 
“This is a partnership. This is a strong partnership,” stated Ricky T. Buchanan as he expressed his gratitude. “It’s not just the ones in uniform… we’ve all got the same goal. We want to make McDowell County and NC as safe as possible. We could not do this alone and I appreciate the support from all of those who back us here in McDowell County. It’s not about Republican, it’s not about Democrat. It’s about getting the job done. Doing it right, doing it fair. And that’s what we do.”
