On January 19, 2023 at 6:39 pm, Vigo County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the area of 7th Street and US 41 for a two vehicle accident with entrapment. Deputies arrived on scene and found a juvenile trapped inside her passenger vehicle. Rescue personnel were able to get the juvenile driver extracted from the vehicle and transported to Regional Hospital for medical treatment. The juvenile's condition is unknown at this time. The second driver involved, was operating a box truck and was not injured. The accident reconstruction team was called and are currently reconstructing the crash. Northbound lanes on US 41 from 7th Street are shut down for reconstruction. Based on witness interviews, the cause of the accident was failure to yield by the box truck driver. The driver of the box truck, 40 year old James Moore of Columbus OH, was arrested and charged with OVWI. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family. John Plasse Vigo County Sheriff
