Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and City of Moorpark Name Next Police Chief Moorpark, CA., — The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the City of Moorpark has selected Captain Darin Hendren as its next police chief. Hendren has been selected to replace outgoing chief, Captain Victor Fazio after he was promoted to assistant sheriff. “We are honored to be able to continue to provide outstanding service to the city of Moorpark,” said Sheriff Jim Fryhoff. “Darin will carry on the tradition of excellent police services for the Moorpark community.” Captain Darin Hendren started his career with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office in 1999. Darin received his bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo in 1998, majoring in Agricultural Business. After joining the Sheriff’s Office, Darin continued his education by receiving his master’s degree in Public Administration from Cal State University Northridge. During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, Darin has worked a variety of assignments including custody at the Todd Road Jail, Pre-Trial Detention Facility, and Court Services, patrol at the following stations: Camarillo, Fillmore, Headquarters, Moorpark, and Thousand Oaks, and investigations as a detective in Fillmore, Moorpark, and in the Special Crimes Unit. Darin has also held collateral assignments as a member of the Tactical Response Team, Firearms Instructor, and Sheriff’s Posse Volunteers. “I am enthusiastic about this assignment as the Chief of Police for the City of Moorpark and will continue working to keep Moorpark one of the safest cities in the state,” said Hendren. “Traditionally Moorpark has attracted the best and brightest from within the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department to serve as its Chief of Police. Darin Hendren has been a part of our community for years and is aware of the issues and challenges with policing the City. He has played a major role in the success of our city, and we look forward to his continued success as we strive to remain the safest city in the county,” said Moorpark City Manager Troy Brown. Hendren officially began his assignment as the Moorpark police chief on January 8, 2023. |
