Newark Police Arrest Three Men for Shootings

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that Police have arrested three men for separate shooting incidents and one man and a juvenile for separate incidents of weapon possession.
On 1-2-23, a 16-year-old, of East Orange, was arrested on weapon possession charges in connection with a shooting in the 100 block of N. 13th St. A female victim arrived at University Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim is reportedly in stable condition.
Ahmed Rauf-Nomaw, 45, of Middle Grove, NY, was arrested on 1-1-23, and faces weapons possession charges. Two male victims in the 900 block of South 16th Street reported that Rauf-Nomaw pointed a handgun at one of the victims before the weapon was discharged.
Quintin Matthews, 36, of East Orange, was arrested for a 12-24-22 shooting at Gareis Street near Blum Street. A male victim was shot at by a male suspect following a verbal dispute. Matthews was identified as the suspect and faces charges of aggravated assault, and weapon possession. No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.
On 12-8-22, Cordell Tullis, 33, of Newark, was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in the 500 block of South 20th Street following a verbal dispute. He faces charges of aggravated assault, weapon possession, and hindering apprehension.
Kerwin David, 40, of Newark, was arrested on 11-28-22, in connection with an armed robbery and shooting that occurred at Orange Street and Roseville Avenue. A male victim was robbed of his cell phone and $55.00 at gunpoint. During a struggle between the victim and the suspect, the handgun was discharged. No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident. David faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, criminal mischief, and weapon possession.
