NIPSCO ELECTRIC UPGRADE UNDERWAY IN EAST CHICAGO
System Modernization Projects Ensure Safe and Reliable Service for the Future
 
Merrillville, Ind. – January 23^rd, NIPSCO will start work to replace and upgrade existing electrical wires and utility poles as part of its overall plan to modernize the energy delivery system in northern Indiana. This project work will provide customers and the community with a continued source of safe, reliable service resulting in less service interruptions and system maintenance work in the future. 
 
The majority of this project work will take place from W 145^th  St. to W 150^th St. between White Oak Ave. and Railroad Ave. Please be prepared for additional truck traffic and construction equipment in the area.
 
NIPSCO approved contractor, Arc American, will be performing this work and construction will take place Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  All construction schedules are dependent on weather and crews may need to work some weekend and evening hours to accommodate project deadlines. 
NIPSCO would like to remind residents to please exercise extra caution when traveling near any marked construction zones. Some lane closures maybe expected with this project work, and advanced signage will be placed ahead of time of closure notifications. Crews will have flaggers onsite directing traffic during construction hours, please follow the direction of on-site crew members and placed signage.
 
NIPSCO appreciates the patience of the community throughout the duration of this project work and will continue to work with City of East Chicago officials to minimize customer impact as work is underway.
