SUSPECT: Wright, David – 36 year old, Pomona resident
Rojas, Joshua – 35 year old, Claremont resident
NARRATIVE:
On Friday, January 20, 2023; Officers from Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) were in the area of Arrow Hwy and Wilkie St when they observed a vehicle commit numerous vehicle code violations. Officers conducted an enforcement stop and observed what appeared to be a plastic bag containing cocaine in the center console of the vehicle. During a supplementary search of the vehicle officers located a plastic bag containing methamphetamine and a loaded unserialized firearm.
David Wright, the driver, was found to be in possession of cocaine and methamphetamine and was issued a citation for driving without a license and narcotics charges. The passenger, Joshua Rojas was found to be in possession of the unregistered firearm. Rojas was placed under arrest and booked on firearms charges and transported to the Pomona City Jail.
UNIT:
The Pomona Police Department’s, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) is a specialized unit within the police department that is responsible for suppressing gang violence, investigating drug offenses and pursuing wanted persons. The team is comprised of two supervisors and four officers, supplemented by Patrol officers.
