Hikers Airlifted to Safety After Getting Stuck in the Deep Creek Hot Springs

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 5:52pm, deputies received a call regarding hikers who may be in trouble at the Deep Creek Hot Springs. According to the caller, some friends went hiking on January 18, 2023, and had not returned home. The caller received only a text from them requesting assistance.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department's Aviation Division, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, and search and rescue members from the Victor Valley Search and Rescue Team located and assisted the hikers.
One of the hikers, a 40 year-old male adult, fell while hiking with his two friends injuring his ankle. All three became stuck in the hot springs and could not hike their way out. The hikers, and their dog, were airlifted out. The injured male was taken to a local hospital, and the other two hikers were transported safely by deputies to their residence in Apple Valley.
