Wilmington Police arrest third man in connection with in April 2022 shooting incident, arrest four others on gun, drug charges:

Wilmington Police have made a third arrest in connection with an April 2022 shooting incident and have arrested four others on gun and drug charges.
 
On April 14 approximately 1:45 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were in the area of 7th and Monroe Streets when they observed a shooting incident take place. Police located a 27-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived at the hospital in critical condition, and a 34-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived at the hospital in stable condition.
 
Officers observed a suspect vehicle fleeing the scene, and relayed a description to additional responding officers. The suspect vehicle stopped in the area of Delaware Avenue and Adams Street, and two suspects fled. After foot pursuits, responding officers took both suspects – Demarius Bradley, 27, of Newark, and Ernest Hill, 41, into custody without incident, and recovered two loaded 9mm handguns. Both were charged in connection with this shooting incident.
 
Through the course of a continuing investigation, Detective Joseph Wicks of the Criminal Investigations Division identified Bakr Dillard, 41, as a third suspect. Detective Wicks presented the case to the New Castle County Grand Jury in May, and the Grand Jury returned an indictment against Dillard.
 
On January 20 at approximately 6:53 a.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division; Uniformed Services Division; Crisis Management Tactical Team; Criminal Investigations Division; the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Spruce Street. Police took Dillard into custody, along with 23-year-old Tavion Washington, 27-year-old Zakeer Washington, 35-year-old Christopher Wilmoth, and 24-year-old Eric Harding.
 
Police recovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun, two loaded 9mm handguns, 177.1 grams of cocaine, 402.2 grams of crack cocaine, 6.398 grams of heroin, 3,975.7 grams of marijuana, 17 Oxycodone pills, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and $7,234 in currency.
 
Dillard has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Attempted Murder (First Degree) – Three Counts
  • Conspiracy (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Four Counts
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Five Counts
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Dillard was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $982,200 cash-only bail.
 
Tavion Washington, who was wanted on multiple unrelated matters, has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Five Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $501,400 cash-only bail.
 
Zakeer Washington, who was wanted on an unrelated matter, has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Five Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Wilmoth, who was wanted out of Chester County, Pennsylvania on an unrelated matter, has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Three Counts
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $551,200 cash-only bail.
 
Harding has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity – Three Counts
