SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Assault With Intent To Do Great Bodily Harm Arrest.

LOCATION: 7000 block of West Colby Road, Montcalm Township.

On Friday, January 20, 2023 at approximately 11:10 P.M., deputies were sent to a residence in the 7000 block of West Colby Road in Montcalm Township where a man was unconscious after being assaulted.
The deputies arrived to find a 56-year-old Greenville man lying on the floor. He was unconscious and bleeding from his head. Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the Greenville man to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. As of Monday, January 23, the man has been removed from ICU, remains in the hospital, and is in and out of consciousness.
The deputies learned that the Greenville man was attending a small party at the home on Colby Road when he and David Thompson, age 58 from Greenville, got into argument resulting in Thompson punching the Greenville man in the face. The Greenville man fell to the floor where he remained until the deputies arrived.
Thompson was taken into custody on the night of the offense. He has been charged with Assault With Intent To Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and remains in jail with a $175,000 bond.
