Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that snow followed by rain predicted on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, may produce flooding.
 
Snow is predicted before 10 a.m. tomorrow, followed by a mix of snow and rain until 1 p.m., with rain after 1 p.m. Snow accumulations of less than a half inch is expected. A thunderstorm, including heavy rain, is likely between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday with rainfall amounts between 1” to 2” possible.
 
Drivers are advised to avoid the listed locations due to the potential for flooding.
 
While little to no snow accumulation is expected during this weather event, all residents are asked to observe the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations in the event of unexpected snowfall. Signs have been posted on streets throughout the City of Newark to notify motorists of the streets designated for no parking during snow storms.  Motorists and residents are urged to look for the signs to identify the streets where the parking ban will be enforced. 
 
The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions, and other weather-related incidents through the combined use of Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management Personnel. Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse, and building materials. For fire safety, please utilize flashlights, instead of candles, should you lose electricity due to this weather event.
