San Leandro Police Make Arrest in Robbery Series

Beginning in May of 2022, San Leandro and other Bay Area police agencies began experiencing a series of similar armed robberies of convenience stores targeting cigarettes and cash.  This included the City of San Leandro, the City of Hayward, the City of Oakland, the City of Berkeley, the City of Alameda, and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.

San Leandro Police detectives took the lead on this series of related investigations and spearheaded a multi-agency investigation.  Detectives spent hours investigating, conducting surveillance, reviewing data and records, and ultimately putting together an investigation with five suspects involved in 27 robberies with an estimated loss of over $30,000.00.

On January 10th, in the early morning, tactical teams from SLPD, HPD, and ACSO conducted four simultaneous search warrants and arrested all five suspects without incident. As a result of the search warrants, an abundance of evidence was recovered.  This included two loaded and unregistered firearms along with two additional replica firearms.

Since the date of the arrest, all five suspects have officially been charged with armed robbery by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.

Suspects:

22-year-old Patricia Sarmiento, Oakalnd resident.

22-year-old Ray'mon Jessie Simon, Oakland resident.

20-year-old Lorenzo Sarmiento, Oakland resident.

24-year-old Devaughn Sarmiento, Oakland resident.

22-year-old Arial Teleb Perez, Richmond resident.

“The San Leandro Police Department worked very closely on this series with the Hayward Police Department and The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. SLPD would like to acknowledge their tenacious efforts and their partnership throughout this investigation,” said Lieutenant Matthew Barajas
