Attempted kidnapping to commit sexual assault

On January 24th at 5:03 pm, a woman in her 20’s had just finished crossing the street from UC Campus at the Hearst Avenue/Euclid Avenue intersection when a male suspect approached her from behind.  Standing on the north side Hearst Avenue adjacent to Lower Hearst parking structure (just west of Euclid Avenue), the suspect grabbed the woman by the arm and threatened to sexually assault her.

Fortunately, the woman was able to pull away and run to a nearby café for safety.  When the suspect followed the woman into the café—staff were able to block the suspect from the woman and call for police assistance.  The suspect walked back onto campus, before officers arrived and the suspect has not yet been located (see video of suspect walking onto campus).
