The Norton Shores Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred last night.

Officer’s from Fruitport Police Department and Norton Shores Police Department received reports of a female walking in the roadway on Harvey St. near Sternberg at approx. 9:30pm last night. Another caller stated the female was walking towards US31 from Sternberg.
A few minutes later a Norton Shores officer responded to a call of a car/pedestrian crash on south bound US31 near Sternberg. Upon arrival the officer found a deceased female in the roadway. The female’s identity will be withheld until all family members have been contacted. The police department is still trying to determine why the female was walking in the roadway on US31.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash has been identified. This crash is still under investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
