The Janesville Police Department awarded a Letter of Commendation.

This award is given by the Chief of Police to any employee who performs a particularly noteworthy act of service. The action of the employee must be beyond the normal expectation of duty and based upon a determined and intelligent performance. Officer Jeremy Wiley received a Letter of Commendation for his actions listed below.

This commendation is in recognition of Officer Wiley's significant efforts in providing training, instruction, mentoring, and coaching in 2022.
 
Through the year, Officer Wiley provided approximately forty days of instruction in Vehicle Contacts, Active Shooter, Breaching, and Firearms.  In addition, he provided instruction, mentored, and coached members of B-Shift on reviewing body camera, identification of deceptive behavior and criminal involvement, and interview and interrogation techniques.   
 
In 2022 there were eighteen recruit officers that passed through field training on B-Shift. Officer Wiley ensured each of them was given Ballistic Shield training. He dedicated several hours to this training ensuring those officers could utilize this important safety tool. Officer Wiley taught multiple Active Shooter Response courses to officers inside and outside the Janesville Police Department.

In August, he organized three days of SWAT training on breaching techniques ensuring members of SWAT were able to gain access through various entry points of buildings during emergency situations.  This well prepared and high-quality training required significant logistical coordination and was efficiently and effectively executed. It was recognized and complimented by many in attendance.

Officer Wiley's performance and dedication are deeply appreciated and respected by the police department and the Janesville community. His dedicated efforts have a direct relationship to the level of safety in the City of Janesville. Officer Wiley strongly support the mission of the Janesville Police Department.
