Suspects Attempt to Flee from Deputies After Attempted Vehicle Burglary

DATE/TIME: January 30, 2023 / 1:56 p.m. 

INCIDENT: Attempt Vehicle Burglary, Felony Evading and Possession of Stolen Property

LOCATION: 4200 block of Chino Hills Parkway, Chino Hills  

SUSPECT(S): Ramon Gallegos (19), Jimmy Bray (29),  Residents of San Diego  

VICTIM(S): Confidential, State of California 

SUMMARY: On January 30, 2023, at 1:56 p.m., deputies from the Chino Hills Station responded to a vehicle burglary in progress in a business parking lot on Chino Hills Parkway.  A citizen reported a male suspect attempting to break into a vehicle parked in the parking lot. As deputies responded, the citizen witnessed the suspect get into a black, 4 door BMW and flee the location. 

As deputies arrived, they located the suspect vehicle driving away from the location and attempted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, Ramon Gallegos, failed to yield and fled from deputies at a high rate of speed. Gallegos drove westbound on Chino Hills Parkway and reached speeds up to 80 miles per hour. The pursuit ended after the suspect vehicle was disabled by colliding with a curb at the intersection of Chino Hills Parkway and Carbon Canyon Road. Gallegos and his passenger, Jimmy Bray, were taken into custody. During a search of the suspect vehicle, deputies located burglary tools and possible stolen property, connected to other crimes.

Gallegos was arrested for PC 664/459-Attempted Burglary, CVC 2800.2-Felony Evading, and PC 496(a)-Possession of Stolen Property. Bray was arrested for PC 664/459-Attempted Burglary and PC 496(a)-Possession of Stolen Property. Both suspects were booked into custody at West Valley Detention Center.
