IMPD Homicide detectives make arrest within hours in homicide investigation thanks to immediate community cooperation.

IMPD Homicide detectives arrested 20-year-old Jermerrell Hubbard for his alleged involvement Monday afternoon homicide. 
 
On Monday, January 30, 2023, at approximately 1:00 pm, IMPD Northwest District officers responded to 2524 Plaza Drive on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s).  Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. 
 
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Thanks to immediate community cooperation, detectives were able to acquire a description of a possible suspect and suspect vehicle. 
 
Through various investigative techniques, IMPD’s North District Violent Crime Task Force (VCTF) and Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) with assistance from IMPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, located the suspect vehicle and Hubbard. Hubbard was detained without further incident.
 
A search warrant was applied for a granted for a residence, connected to Hubbard, in the 2400 block of Martin Luther Lane. During a search of the residence, evidence linked to the homicide investigation was located.
 
Hubbard was arrested for murder and robbery.
 
The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) will assist and determine the exact cause and manner of death. The MCCO will release the decedent’s name once a proper next-of-kin notification has been made.  
 
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the finial charging decision.
