A MESSAGE FROM THE SOUTH RIVER MUNICIPAL ALLIANCE

On Saturday, March 25th from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, South River Municipal Alliance will be holding a Chili Cook-off & Tasting. This fundraising event will be taking place at the South River VFW located at 31 Reid Street.

Enter for a chance to be crowned the maker of the "Best Chili in South River" and earn bragging rights! Or purchase a tasting ticket for a chance to sample chili from each contestant and vote for the "Fan Favorite" winner.

Admission for tasting is $10 ($5 for ages 12 and under). Tasting tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event (ticket sales end at 1:30 PM).

Tasting tickets include the following:

• Door Prize Raffles
• Chili Tasting from Contestants
• Voting for Fan Favorite Winner

Contestant Entries:

The contestant entry fee is $20 and all contestants must register in advance. Prizes will be awarded and entries will be judged by guest judges for 1st place and runner up and a vote for "Fan Favorite" (3 prizes total).

ENTRY RULES:

• Contestants must be at least 16 years old

• Any type of chili is allowed (beef, chicken, vegetarian, etc.)

• Contestants must provide a means to keep chili warm (chafing dish, crock pot, hot plate, etc.)

• Chili must be cooked off premises and be ready for judging on site by 12:00 PM

• Contestants are asked to provide enough chili for approximately 100 samples of 1 ounce each

Proceeds from this event help fund drug, alcohol, and violence awareness / prevention programs for the South River Community.
