Police Seek the Public’s Help in Identifying Carjacking Suspects

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspects in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Friday, December 2, 2022.

A victim double-parked his black 2016 Audi A4 in the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue to run an errand at a business. The vehicle was left running with two juvenile passengers inside. Two male suspects entered the vehicle, locked it from the inside, and drove off. The suspects then ordered the juveniles to get out of the vehicle. The juveniles were unharmed and were reunited with the adult victim without further incident.

Detectives investigating this incident report that both suspects are Hispanic males. Suspect 1 was wearing gray jeans, white low-top Air Force One sneakers, and a black bubble coat. Suspect 2 is described as wearing gray sweatpants, a black hooded jacket, a black ski mask, and black sneakers.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of either of these suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
