Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of January 23-29, 2023
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were three robberies during the past week.
On Friday, 01-27-23, at approximately 12:47 p.m., Officer Coll was dispatched to Nordstrom Rack on a report of a strong-arm robbery. Loss prevention staff stated that a suspect came into the store, selected a pair of pants, a pair of shoes, and a hat, and ran out of the store. Loss prevention tried to stop the suspect outside of Nordstrom Rack. The suspect got into a “fighting stance” and kept a key in his fist, acting as a knife or slashing weapon. The suspect also reached into his waistband as if he had a firearm and told the loss prevention staff, “Back up or I’ll clip you.” The suspect got into his vehicle and drove away with approximately $210 worth of merchandise.
On Friday, 01-27-23, at approximately 10:12 p.m., at the 200 block of Saint Catherine Drive, a 34-year-old male from Daly City forcefully took a victim’s ring. He was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and other offenses.
On Sunday, 01-29-23, at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to Macy’s on a report of an assault. Loss prevention staff saw a suspect enter the store, select roughly $525 worth of clothing, and leave without paying for the items. As one loss prevention employee ran after the suspect, the suspect unexpectedly turned around and punched him in the face. The suspect dropped some clothing but kept a jacket. The suspect was located near a bus stop and found to have the jacket taken from Macy’s, suspected methamphetamine in his pocket, and had pliers and wire cutters in his possession. The suspect, a 27-year-old Oakland resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of burglary tools.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
