***Update***
Homicide Detectives were able to identify the suspect in this case as a 29-year-old male. The suspect was tracked to a hotel in the 1700 block of I-40 East. At 7:06 PM, the Amarillo Police Department Critical Incident Response Team was called to the hotel to apprehend the suspect. At 7:40 PM, the suspect was taken into custody. More information will be released once the suspect has been booked into jail.

On February 5th at 7:28 AM, Amarillo Police Officers were given information on a possible homicide at a hotel in the 4600 block of East I-40. Officers located 31-year-old Kendra Vela deceased in a room with apparent gunshot wounds.
The Amarillo Police Department Homicide is investigating. No arrest has been made At this time.
