IMPD Detectives Make Arrest in November 2022 Murder Investigation

INDIANAPOLIS – On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested Tony Miller Jr. for his alleged role in last year's homicide on the northeast side.

On Friday, November 18, 2022, just after 6:15 p.m., IMPD East District officers responded to 9108 E. 38th Place for a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male and an adult female inside a vehicle with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported both victims to Eskenazi Hospital. The male, later identified as 30-year-old William Wilson, was transported in critical condition, and the female was in stable condition.

IMPD detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Detectives believed this incident to be domestic-related.The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence.

The female was treated and later released from the hospital. On November 20, 2022, the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Marion County Coroner's Office assisted and determined the cause and manner of death.

On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, IMPD Violent Crime Unit (VCU) detectives located and arrested 29-year-old Tony Miller Jr., who was wanted on a warrant for possession of a handgun by a felon.

Homicide detectives continued their investigation and gathered enough information to ascertain a warrant through the courts. In January 2023, while incarcerated at the Marion County Justice Center, detectives served the warrant for murder on Mr. Miller.
