Vehicle being driven by wanted person causes three vehicle crash at N 10th and Geele Avenue. 
| 02/07/23 at 10:54 AM Sheboygan Police Officers spotted a known wanted person traveling in a vehicle. A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle and the car pulled over on N 13th St near North Ave. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle because the suspect was being sought on a felony violation. The driver surrendered, however the passenger, who was the wanted suspect, refused commands to exit the vehicle. He then got into the driver’s seat and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was southbound on N 10th Street when it crashed into uninvolved vehicle traveling eastbound on Geele Avenue at N 10th St after failing to stop at the stop sign. That second vehicle then struck a third vehicle in transit northbound on N 10th Street. The suspect vehicle also struck a home before coming to rest against a second home on N 10th Street. The wanted suspect, a 37-year-old male who is not from Sheboygan, was extricated by the Sheboygan Fire Department and transported to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was extricated and also transported to the hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle did not report injuries to the first responding officers. The intersection of N 10th St and Geele Ave was closed temporarily for accident reconstruction but is open to traffic again. The Sheboygan County Sherriff’s Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to assist the SPD by handling the investigation of what occurred after the initial traffic stop and at the crash scene. |
