Wilmington Police arrest Newark man in connection with yesterday’s shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a Newark man in connection with a shooting incident that took place yesterday.
On February 7 at approximately 1:25 p.m., police were dispatched to the 800 block of West 10th Street in reference to a shooting incident that had taken place. Police located a 27-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Joran Merced of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, he identified 25-year-old Jadeson Smith of Newark as a suspect. Smith was taken into custody without incident a short time later by members of the Street Crimes Unit.
Smith has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Criminal Mischief Over $1,000
- Discharging a Firearm on a City Street
- Possession of Marijuana
