Wilmington Police arrest Harrington man in connection with Tuesday evening shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a Harrington man in connection with Tuesday evening’s shooting incident.
On February 7 at approximately 11:18 p.m., police were dispatched to the 700 block of North Union Street in reference to a report of a gunshot being fired at that location. Police located a 39-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Responding officers learned of an altercation that took place involving 39-year-old Walter Caceras of Harrington, who had been in possession of a firearm. Police took Caceras into custody without incident and recovered a .380-caliber handgun.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wham identified Caceras as a suspect in connection with the incident, and he has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Aggravated Menacing
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
